  • Plastic bottle

  • Craft knife

  • Scissors

  • Wet wipes

  • Rubber band

  • Small Shallow container

  • Dish detergent or bubble solution

  3. Take a wet wipe and cover the hole you cut at the bottom of the bottle. Secure the wet wipe in place by wrapping a rubber band around the bottle over the wet wipe.

  4. Pour some dish detergent or bubble solution into the small shallow container.

  5. Dip the part of the bottle covered with the wet wipe into the dish detergent or bubble solution. Optionally you can pour a few drops of food coloring onto the wet wipe before dipping it into the solution.

  6. Invite the child to blow through the bottle's opening to create bubbles.

DEVELOPMENT AREAS:

  1. FINE MOTOR SKILLS: Using the craft knife and scissors to cut the plastic bottle and secure the wet wipe with a rubber band requires precise hand movements and fine motor skills.

  2. SENSORY EXPERIENCE: Interacting with the different materials, such as the wet wipe, bubble solution, and optionally food coloring, provides a sensory experience that stimulates the child's senses.

  3. CAUSE AND EFFECT: Blowing through the bottle's opening to create bubbles demonstrates cause and effect relationships as the child's actions produce the desired outcome.

  4. ORAL MOTOR DEVELOPMENT: Blowing bubbles through the bottle's opening helps develop oral motor skills, including lip strength, tongue control, breath control, jaw stability, and oral sensory awareness. It's a fun way to improve speech and feeding abilities.

  5. CREATIVITY: Adding optional food coloring to the wet wipe allows the child to explore their creativity and customize the bubble-making process.

  6. FOCUS AND ATTENTION: Following the step-by-step instructions requires the child to focus and pay attention to detail while assembling the bubble blower.

  7. SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY: The child learns about the properties of bubbles, soap, and air as they experiment with the bubble-making process.

  8. HAND-EYE COORDINATION: The activity of blowing through the bottle's opening to create bubbles involves hand-eye coordination as the child aims to blow the bubbles successfully.

  9. PATIENCE AND PERSISTENCE: Experimenting with bubble blowing may require patience and persistence as the child adjusts their blowing technique to achieve desired bubble shapes and sizes.
